Door-knock script
"Hi, my name is [your name] and I live here in Blakeney Greens. I'm running a summer business cleaning garbage and recycling cans โ I scrub them out and rinse them so they stop smelling. It's just $10 for one can or $15 for two. Would you like me to do yours this week?"
If they say "I'll think about it"
"No problem! Here's my flyer with my number. I'll be in the neighborhood every [day]. You can also text me anytime."
Pro tips
Do the job when cans are empty โ right after trash pickup day. In Charlotte, most pickup days are Thursday or Friday.
Always use the customer's own hose so you don't have to haul water. Ask permission first.
Take a before/after photo (with permission) to show other neighbors. Seeing is believing.
Monthly subscribers are your best customers. Remind them the week before you come.
Keep a notebook with each customer's name, address, what they paid, and when you last cleaned. It's your business record.
Save at least 10% of every payment for supplies. The rest is yours to keep!
